WELCOME!
Thank you for visiting! In May of 2010, I graduated from the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. I am very eager to begin the next phase of what has been a wonderful and fulfilling career. I am currently in the process of getting "officially" certified and licensed as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Becoming a nurse practitioner is a lengthy and somewhat confusing process. Even though I had been in nursing for over 15 years, once I was in the program, I found I really knew very little about NPs. I decided to create this site to chronicle my experience, reflect on my journey, and share the knowledge I have acquired about the process of transitioning from an RN to an APRN. I am by no means an expert on the topic, just someone who has experience with, and is in the process of becoming an FNP.
I also will add some posts and blogs for student nurses. My past few years as a Clinical Nursing Instructor have been a blast. I love teaching and I love to help students make the transition from student --> nursing student--> nurse. I have learned a lot over the years, mostly the hard way through trial and error, and have some tips to help you make the most out of your experiences.
PLEASE Feel free to read, comment, criticize, offer advice and suggestions, or contact me for anything!
I am also on LinkedIn and Twitter, just search by name to find me
